Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan receives the Members of the National Assembly of France
14 September, 2019On September 14, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received the Members of the National Assembly of France Guy Teissier, Valérie Boyer, Guillaume Kasparian, Jean-Pierre Coubertafon, Pierre Ouzoulias, Mohammed Laqhila, Danièle Kazarian.
Minister Mnatsakanyan welcomed the French MPs and expressed gratitude for their determination and consistency in further strengthening and developing the Armenian-French friendship. The interlocutors commended positive dynamics of the high-level dialogue between Armenia and France, the regular bilateral visits and meetings. The Foreign Minister also emphasized the role of French parliamentarians in expanding and enriching the Armenian-French partnership.
The sides also touched upon the role of the International Organization of La Francophonie and the cooperation established within its framework. The Foreign Minister noted that the OIF is a good platform for international and regional cooperation and underscored that Armenia, as a country which assumed the presidency of the Summit, will make a serious contribution to the advancement and promotion of La Francophonie values.
Presenting the priorities of Armenia's Presidency at the OIF Summit, Minister Mnatsakanyan highlighted the strengthening of close cooperation with the international and regional organizations.
During the meeting the sides also touched upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Minister Mnatsakanyan noted that the Armenian side highly appreciates the role France as an OSCE Minsk Group member plays in Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
At the meeting the interlocutors also discussed the visit of French MPs to Artsakh and the meetings held there. In this regards, the Minister expressed his gratitude to French parliamentarians for their principled position on respect of human rights. He underscored that Artsakh issue is first of all related to people, who shall fully enjoy all human rights and fundamental freedoms without any discrimination. According to the Minister the MPs visit to Artsakh is an expression of solidarity with the universal human rights.
