Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan
04 December, 2019On December 4, on the margins of 26th OSCE Ministerial conference, Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan had a meeting with Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov held under the auspices of OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, Igor Popov (Russia), Stéphane Visconti (France), Andrew Schoffer (U.S.) and Andrzej Kasprzyk, the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office.
In the course of the meeting issues related to ceasefire consolidation, implementation of confidence-building measures, as well as the intentions to consistently work together at the beginning of the next year were discussed.
The Foreign Minister of Armenia highlighted the modest achievement reached within the framework of the agreement on preparing peoples for peace, through the implementation of an exchange program for media representatives from Armenia, Artsakh and Azerbaijan. In this context the possibility of continuing such direct engagement of societies and media representatives was assessed. At the same time, the importance of introducing other confidence-building measures was emphasized.
Touching upon the meeting with the Foreign Minister of Artsakh held in Yerevan the day before, Minister Mnatsakanyan once again stressed the need for direct engagement of Artsakh authorities, especially with regards to the substantial issues of the settlement.
