Meeting between Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Iraq

On February 15, on the margins of the Munich Security Conference, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with his Iraqi counterpart Mohamed Ali Alhakim.

Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Mohamed Ali Alhakim commended Armenian-Iraqi relations based on strong ties of historical friendship as developing dynamically. In this context, Foreign Ministers Mnatsakanyan noted that activities are undertaken aimed at expanding Armenian diplomatic representation in Iraq, which will contribute to the further enrichment of bilateral agenda.

The interlocutors emphasized further promotion of multisectoral cooperation, including through strengthening trade, economic and business ties. In this regard, the special role of the Armenian community in the social-political life of Iraq, as well as in strengthening the friendship between the two countries was reciprocally highlighted.

Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Iraq exchanged views on international and regional urgent issues. In this context, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan underscored that Armenia follows closely developments in the Middle East and attaches great importance to reducing tensions in the region.
