On April 30, at the initiative of the Armenian side, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan held a phone conversation with Luigi Di Maio, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy.

On behalf of the Armenian people and the Government of Armenia, the Foreign Minister expressed solidarity to the friendly people of Italy in effectively addressing challenges due to the pandemic and promptly overcoming it.

Minister Mnatsakanyan briefed his Italian counterpart on the steps and measures undertaken by the Government of Armenia aimed at preventing COVID-19 and mitigating its social-economic consequences.

In context of the fight against the pandemic and reduction of its consequences, Foreign Ministers touched upon the new initiatives within the international cooperation.

Touching upon the issues on bilateral agenda, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan underscored that Armenia attaches great importance to the development of the Armenian-Italian relations based on the common civilizational values. In this regard, Foreign Ministers commended the existing level of political dialogue between Armenia and Italy. The sides outlined the steps aimed at further strengthening and expanding the cooperation within the spheres of common interest.

During the phone conversation the wide range of issues on international and regional security was also touched upon.
