20 May, 2021

On May 19, Armenian-Russian political consultations addressing the cooperation between the two countries on multilateral platforms were held in Moscow. The Armenian delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Artak Apitonian, and the Russian side was represented by Deputy Foreign Ministers Sergey Vershinin and Alexander Grushko.

During the consultations, the cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and Russian Federation in the UN, the OSCE and other international organizations as well as the issues of mutual interest were discussed in detail.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on a number of issues of regional security and stability. In this regard, Artak Apitonian drew particular attention to humanitarian issues resulting from the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh in the fall of 2020, including the release of Armenian prisoners of war and civilian hostages.

Commending the level of effective cooperation between the two countries in international structures, both sides highlighted the progressive deepening of relations on multilateral platforms.
