Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received the Representatives of the UN agencies in Armenia
06 October, 2021On October 6, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received the Representatives of the UN agencies in Armenia headed by the UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia Shombi Sharp.
Ararat Mirzoyan highly appreciated the effective cooperation established with the UN structure and specialized agencies, which has contributed to the development agenda of Armenia, the establishment of democratic institutions, and the strengthening of the administration system capacity.
During the meeting, the interlocutors touched upon the “UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for Armenia 2021-2025" document adopted in June of this year. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia underlined that the effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals is one of the important points on the Government's agenda and is reflected in the ambitious reform programs of the Government.
In the context of eliminating the humanitarian consequences of the 44-day war, Ararat Mirzoyan and Shombi Sharp emphasized the importance of the UN Inter-Agency Response Program launched by the UN Office in Armenia to coordinate the provision of humanitarian assistance to the war victims.
Minister Mirzoyan also stressed the need for unhindered humanitarian access to Artsakh, including for UN bodies.
On the same day, the newly appointed UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Natia Natsvlishvili presented the letter of her credentials to Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan.
Ararat Mirzoyan wished success and fruitful work to Natia Natsvlishvili in her responsible position. The interlocutors discussed a number of issues on UNDP activities in Armenia.
