Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan received the UNICEF Representative in Armenia
22 October, 2021On October 22, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received the newly appointed representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Armenia Christine Weigand on the occasion of presenting the accreditation letter.
The Armenian Foreign Minister highly assessed the activities of the UN Children's Fund in Armenia for the last 27 years, aimed at protecting children's rights. The implementation of various programs and initiatives by the organization to improve children's health and education was especially emphasized.
The interlocutors touched upon the UNICEF program 2021-2025 document for Armeni, which is a comprehensive framework aimed at making sufficient progress in the spheres of social services, education, healthcare and children's rights.
The humanitarian consequences of Azerbaijani-Turkish aggression last year were discussed during the meeting. Minister Mirzoyan stressed the need for UNICEF’s more active involvement in ensuring the security, education and other rights of children affected by the conflict.
