Phone conversation of Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan with the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs
11 January, 2022On January 11, the Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirozyan held a phone conversaton with the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried on the initiative of the American side.
The interlocutors congratulated each other on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and commended the dynamics of the development of Armenian-American dialogue based on the common values of democracy, the rule of law and protection of human rights.
Both sides emphasized the importance of the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship and the need for full restoration of the works within this format. Reference was made to the humanitarian issues needing urgent solutions. Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the statement of the US Department of Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs regarding the release of POWs, clarification of the fate of missing persons and the exchange of remains.
Ararat Mirzoyan briefed on the recent violations of the cease-fire regime by the Azerbaijani armed forces and emphasized the implementation of steps aimed at de-escalating the situation.
The interlocutors touched upon the process of Armenia-Turkey dialogue.
During the phone conversation the sides discussed the situation in Kazakhstan. Foreign Minister Mirzoyan presented the position of Armenia on the issue.
The sides touched upon other issues of regional and international security.
