Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Serbia
30 June, 2022On June 30, political consultations were held in Yerevan between the Foreign Ministries of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Serbia co-chaired by Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and Nemanja Starovic, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia.
Remarking the high level of political dialogue between Armenia and Serbia, the parties discussed the perspectives and practical steps aimed at deepening the friendly relations and strengthening the interstate ties between Armenia and Serbia.
The parties exchanged views on a number of issues of international and regional importance. The sides touched upon the measures taken by Armenia aimed at establishing peace and stability in the South Caucasus. The Armenian side underlined the importance of addressing humanitarian issues consequential from the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan during the 44-day war, including the immediate repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war, hostages and captured civilians, as well as the preservation of the Armenian cultural heritage in the territories under Azerbaijani control.
At the end of consultations, the Serbian delegation was received by Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan. Minister Mirzoyan highlighted the importance of reciprocal visits and contacts at different levels aimed at the continuous expansion of the political dialogue between the two countries and the outline of new directions for mutually beneficial multi-sectoral cooperation.
On the same day the Serbian delegation visited Tsitsernakaberd to pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, as well as the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute.
