Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Uruguay
19 August, 2022On July 19, the new phase of political consultations were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Oriental Republic of Uruguay at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay.
The consultations were held between Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Paruyr Hovhannisyan and Deputy Foreign Minister of Uruguay Carolina Ache.
The sides discussed bilateral historical friendly relations and prospects for their further development. The regular political dialogue between Armenia and Uruguay, the expansion of the legal framework, the development of trade-economic, inter-parliamentary and scientific-educational relations were emphasized.
Deputy Foreign Minister Hovhannisyan informed about the intention to open Armenian resident embassy in Montevideo, in response to the similar decision made by Uruguay in August 2021. That factor was evaluated as an additional indicator of friendly relations between Armenia and Uruguay.
The parties also discussed cooperation within international organizations. Reference was made to the urgent problems of the regional and international agenda.
Paruyr Hovhannisyan presented the current situation created around the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, emphasizing the importance of the process of peaceful settlement in order to establish stable peace in the South Caucasus.
The agreement of "The implementation of paid activities by the family members of diplomatic, consular, administrative and technical staff of diplomatic missions and consular institutions between the Republic of Armenia and the Oriental Republic of Uruguay" was signed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs ofArmenia Paruyr Hovhannisyan and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of ORU Carolina Ache.
On the same day, Beatriz Argimón, Vice President of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, the President of the Senate received the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia.
Paruyr Hovhannisyan also had a meeting with the Deputy Chief of Staff of the President Rodrigo Ferrés. Issues related to the development of bilateral relations were discussed.
During the visit to Uruguay, the delegation led by Paruyr Hovhannisyan also had a meeting with the representatives of the Armenian community of Uruguay.
