The meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia with the Minister of State of the United Kingdom
15 December, 2022On December 15, in New York Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Lord Tariq Ahmad, the Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and United Nations at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
Ararat Mirzoyan touched upon the security situation in the South Caucasus, as well as the normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, the recent developments unfolding around the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The Armenian side presented the consequences of Azerbaijan's blocking of movement through the Lachin Corridor and disruption of gas supply to Nagorno-Karabakh, stressing that Artsakh is facing the threat of a humanitarian crisis, and the situation will lead to disaster if not resolved. The Minister of Foreign Affairs Armenia emphasized that the actions of Azerbaijani leadership, warmongering rhetoric and maximalist approach seriously endanger the possibility of achieving peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Tariq Ahmad also touched upon the prospects of development of bilateral relations.
