The meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Lebanon
08 March, 2023On March 8, in the framework of the Ministerial Session of the Council of the League of Arab States, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lebanon Abdallah Bou Habib.
The interlocutors commended Armenian-Lebanese relations based on common history, centuries-old friendship and cultural commonalities, also emphasizing the contribution of the Armenian community to the social and political life of Lebanon. They stated that in the modern period the relations between the two states are also marked by mutually beneficial cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats.
The Foreign Ministers expressed readiness to continue joint efforts towards implementing new initiatives in education, science, culture and other fields.
Issues of regional security and stability were also on the agenda of the meeting.
In the context of the security situation in the South Caucasus and current challenges, Minister Mirzoyan underlined that the speculations of the religious factor by Azerbaijan as well as its groundless attempts to hamper the traditionally warm relations between Armenia and the Armenian people on one side and the Arab world on the other, are unacceptable.
Touching upon the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh resulting from the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan stressed the imperative of implementing the decision of February 22 of the International Court of Justice regarding the request for provisional measures against Azerbaijan.
