Presentation of a copy of credentials by the newly-appointed Ambassador of India to Armenia to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia
10 April, 2023On April 10 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received Nilakshi Saha Sinha, the newly-appointed Ambassador of India to the Republic of Armenia, on the occasion of handing over the copy of her credentials. Minister Mirzoyan congratulated the Аmbassador on the occasion of assuming the responsible position and wished her success in the implementation of the important mission.
The interlocutors touched upon the perspectives of the development of multifaceted Armenian-Indian relations and exchanged views on ways to implement the ambitious bilateral agenda. Both sides commended the growing dynamics of the political dialogue between Armenia and India, to which the high-level bilateral visits as well as active and effective cooperation on international platforms highly contributed.
Minister Mirzoyan and Ambassador Saha Sinha expressed readiness to take joint steps to use to the maximum extent the potential of Armenia and India in trade, economics and business ties, scientific and educational fields for the benefit of the citizens of the two countries. In this context, it was emphasized that the centuries-old friendly ties between the two peoples also create fertile ground for the further development of the interstate partnership.
Regional and international security issues were also touched upon. Minister Mirzoyan briefed the newly appointed Ambassador on the vision of the Armenian side regarding the normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, as well as the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, in this context appreciating the position voiced by India.
Touching upon the humanitarian challenges created in Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of Azerbaijan's illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the imperative of implementing the decision made by the International Court of Justice on February 22, unblocking the corridor without preconditions and preventing Baku's actions aimed at subjecting Armenians of Nagorno Karabakh to ethnic cleansing. In this context, the importance of active steps by international structures and partners interested in stability in the region was emphasized.
