On May 17 in Reykjavík Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirozyan met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden Tobias Billström.

The interlocutors discussed the bilateral cooperation between Armenia and Sweden, as well as the Armenia-EU partnership, including the EU Civilian Monitoring Mission in Armenia. It was mentioned that Armenia highly appreciates Sweden’s support for the ongoing democratic reforms in Armenia.

Regional security issues were also in the center of attention of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Sweden.

Ararat Mirzoyan briefed his counterpart on the recent developments in the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the efforts of the Armenian side aimed at establishing security and stability in the South Caucasus. In the context of a comprehensive settlement of all issues, Minister Mirzoyan stressed the imperative for Azerbaijan to renounce the warmongering rhetoric and the policies aimed at ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as to address the rights and security issues of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.
