On May 17 in Reykjavik Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain José Manuel Albares Bueno.

The interlocutors commended the positive dynamics of the development of relations between the two countries, stressing the willingness to deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Views were exchanged on topics of the Armenia-EU partnership, taking into account the upcoming presidency of Spain in the EU Council from July 1, 2023.

Regional security and stability issues were discussed.

Ararat Mirzoyan touched upon the situation resulting from the provocative and aggressive actions of Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia as well as the existing humanitarian challenges in Nagorno-Karabakh caused by the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor.

Minister Mirzoyan briefed upon the principal positions of the Armenian side regarding the normalization process of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. The imperative to solve the existing problems exclusively through peaceful negotiations was emphasized.
