The President of the UAE received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan
07 September, 2023On September 7, President of the United Arab Emirates Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who is on an official visit to Abu Dhabi.
During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed issues of expanding the political dialogue between the two friendly countries, emphasizing in this context the importance of high-level reciprocal visits and effective interaction at the international platforms.
The President of the UAE and the Foreign Minister of Armenia touched upon the possibilities of developing mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields and exchanged views on the implementation of joint programs in new promising areas. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the intensification of trade and economic ties between the two countries, emphasizing the need for more effective use of the significant potential between Armenia and the UAE. Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that a favorable business environment has been created for Emirati companies in Armenia.
Among the key issues on the agenda of the meeting were also the latest regional developments.
Touching upon the security situation in the South Caucasus, Ararat Mirzoyan noted that Azerbaijan's maximalist aspirations and aggressive actions are hampering efforts to establish long-term peace in the region.
Minister Mirzoyan presented to the President of the UAE the difficult humanitarian challenges 120,000 people of Nagorno-Karabakh are facing and especially vulnerable groups as a result of around 9-months-long blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh, emphasizing that despite two orders of the International Court of Justice and targeted appeals by numerous international partners, Azerbaijan continues to keep the Lachin corridor closed.
