The meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Norway

On September 18, in New York, within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Anniken Huitfeldt, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway.

Minister Mirzoyan stated that Armenia appreciates Norway's support in promoting democratic, economic and social reforms in Armenia and the voluntary contribution to the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2023-2026.

Issues of Armenia-EU cooperation were also touched upon.

During the meeting interlocutors discussed issues of regional security and stability.

Ararat Mirzoyan briefed his counterpart on the current security situation in the South Caucasus, emphasizing the importance of ensuring unimpeded movement through the Lachin corridor in accordance with the two Orders of the UN International Court of Justice of February 22 and July 6, 2023.

In the context of establishing lasting peace in the region, Minister Mirzoyan, among other fundamental issues, noted the importance of addressing the rights and security issues of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. The importance of implementing effective steps by international actors to restrain Azerbaijan's maximalist ambitions, the threat of force and the use of force as well as Azerbaijan’s unconstructive approach was emphasised.
