Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia with the OSCE Secretary General

18 September, 2023

On September 18, in New York, within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Helga Maria Schmid, the OSCE Secretary General.

The continuous provocations of Azerbaijan towards the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, the accumulation of Azerbaijani troops and military equipment along the border of the Republic of Armenia and the line of contact with Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the ongoing aggressive behavior of Azerbaijan were touched upon.

Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of active steps by international actors, including the OSCE towards the unconditional implementation of the legally binding Orders of the International Court of Justice of February 22 and July 6, 2023, point 6 of the Trilateral Statement of November 9, 2020, immediate lifting of blockade of the Lachin corridor as well as preventing the ethnic cleansing of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia noted that Azerbaijan's non-constructive pattern demonstrates the disruption of efforts aimed at establishing stability in the region, the contempt for its own obligations within the framework of international structures, another manifestation of which is not allowing the entry of the personal representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office through the Lachin Corridor. Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the imperative for the OSCE to immediately apply the appropriate tools.
