On October 3, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a phone conversation with Anniken Huitfeldt, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway.

Minister Ararat Mirzoyan briefed his Norwegian counterpart on the details of the situation resulting from Azerbaijan's continuous aggressive policy and ethnic cleansing  of Nagorno-Karabakh, touching upon the international political and humanitarian aspects of the problem.

The assessment of the primary needs of more than 100,000 forcibly displaced people of Nagorno-Karabakh and the efforts of the Government of Armenia to address them were touched upon.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia emphasised that Azerbaijan’s preplanned and factual ethnic cleansing of Nagorno-Karabakh is a consequence of Azerbaijan’s feeling of impunity and inadequate and not targeted steps of international actors. In this context, the imperative of restraining Azerbaijan’s maximalist ambitions and steps aimed at regional destabilization was emphasised.

Issues on Armenia-Norway bilateral agenda, as well as Armenia-EU cooperation were touched upon.
