04 October, 2023

On October 4, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Paruyr Hovhannisyan had a meeting with Wojciech Gerwel, the Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland.

Paruyr Hovhannisyan briefed his interlocutor on the details of the situation resulting from Azerbaijan's continuous aggressive policy of ethnic cleansing of Nagorno-Karabakh, in particular on the efforts by the Government of Armenia aimed at identifying and addressing the priority issues of more than 100,000 Armenians forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh. In this context Paruyr Hovhannisyan thanked Poland for the provided assistance.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia emphasized that Azerbaijan’s preplanned and implemented ethnic cleansing of Nagorno-Karabakh is a consequence of non adequate and non-targeted steps of international actors, which gives Azerbaijan a feeling of impunity. In this context, the imperative of using concrete mechanisms to restrain Baku's maximalist ambitions and steps aimed at destabilizing the region was highlighted.

The issues of Armenian-Polish bilateral agenda, Armenia-EU partnership, as well as cooperation within international organizations were also touched upon.
