Meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia with EU Commissioner for Crisis Management

06 October, 2023

On October 6, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan met with Janez Lenarčič, EU Commissioner for Crisis Management.

Ararat Mirzoyan presented the situation resulting from months-long blockade of the Lachin corridor and Azerbaijan’s military attack on the peaceful population of Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19.

Emphasising that what happened in Nagorno-Karabakh was factual ethnic cleansing, about the threat of which Armenia had been warning for several months, Minister Mirzoyan stressed the imperative to exclude the continuous threat of the use of force in the region.

The interlocutors touched upon the need to provide adequate support to the forcibly displaced population of Nagorno-Karabakh and the activities undertaken with international partners in that direction.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia and the EU Commissioner exchanged views on the security situation in the region, as well as the issues on the Armenia-EU partnership agenda.
