On December 14, on the sidelines of the Global Refugee Forum in Geneva, Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan had a meeting with Raouf Mazou, the Assistant High Commissioner for Operations of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

The Deputy Foreign Minister presented the work carried out by the Government of the Republic of Armenia aimed at protecting the rights and addressing the needs of people forcibly displaced as a result of the ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh, and briefed on the projects aimed at overcoming mid-term and long-term issues of refugees.

Both sides emphasized the importance of exercising the right of return of the Nagorno-Karabakh population in accordance with the legally binding Order of the UN International Court of Justice  adopted on November 17.

The parties discussed steps towards the fulfillment of the humanitarian call of the Government of Armenia and the Office of UNHCR aimed at collecting 97 million Euros, as well as joint efforts towards addressing  the needs of refugees. It was noted that, taking into account the large flow of refugees received by Armenia, it was decided to include Armenia in the list of beneficiaries of the Global Concessional Financing Facility for middle-income countries.
