On February 8, in The Hague, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Hanke Bruins Slot, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on the perspectives of expanding the Armenian-Dutch bilateral agenda and political dialogue. The steps undertaken to strengthen democracy and the rule of law in Armenia and readiness to further continue the bilateral cooperation in that direction were emphasized. In this regard, as well as in the context of the fight against impunity, the membership of Armenia in the International Criminal Court was also commended.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and the Netherlands discussed issues on the agenda of the Armenia-EU partnership. Ararat Mirzoyan stressed the importance of the continuous development of cooperation in various directions, including for further strengthening Armenia’s resilience.

During the meeting, the latest developments and the general security situation in the South Caucasus were touched upon.

Minister Mirzoyan briefed his counterpart on Armenia’s vision for the establishment of stability and peace in the region. Touching upon the discussions on the draft peace treaty with Azerbaijan, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that not only Armenia but also the other side, Azerbaijan, has to show a clear commitment on key issues. Foreign Minister of Armenia emphasized the fundamental principles for the Armenian side in the normalization process of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, in particular, the importance of unequivocal respect for territorial integrity and inviolability of borders.

In the context of unblocking regional transport and economic communications in the region and Armenia's peace agenda, Minister Mirzoyan drew the attention of his counterpart to the well-known principles defining the ‘’Crossroads of Peace’’ project developed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and the Netherlands agreed to continue active contacts and discussions on all issues of mutual interest.
