Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and France in Paris
09 February, 2024On February 9, in Paris, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Stéphane Séjourné, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic.
Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan congratulated his French counterpart on assuming the position of Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of France.
The interlocutors thoroughly discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest, touching upon the perspectives of joint close cooperation on both bilateral and multilateral platforms.
Touching upon the issues on the bilateral agenda, the high-level political dialogue was commended and the readiness to further strengthen multi-sectoral cooperation was emphasized. The Ministers of Armenia and France touched upon the upcoming high-level events.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Stéphane Séjourné also exchanged views on the Armenia-EU partnership agenda. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia emphasized the intensively deepening dialogue with the European Union, which is also developing in new directions aimed at ensuring tangible results for the citizens of the Republic of Armenia.
Issues on the security situation in the South Caucasus were thoroughly discussed. The Foreign Minister of Armenia briefed his French counterpart on the vision of the Republic of Armenia regarding the establishment of stability and peace in the region. Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the key principles in the normalization process of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, particularly the importance of territorial integrity and inviolability of borders, unconditional respect for sovereignty, as well as the need to ensure more certainty in order to implement the further delimitation process based on the Alma-Ata Declaration and the most recent and legitimate maps of the USSR.
Foreign Minister of Armenia highly appreciated France's special attention and efforts aimed at overcoming security challenges in the South Caucasus, as well as establishing a fair and stable peace.
Views were exchanged on issues of regional transport and economic projects.
