On March 22, in Montevideo, Acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Davit Karapetyan had a meeting with Rodrigo Arim, the Rector of the University of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay.

Issues of deepening the cooperation between Armenia and Uruguay in the field of education were discussed. Among other topics of mutual interest, the possibilities of teaching the Armenian language were discussed.

Both parties stressed the important role of the large Armenian community of Uruguay in strengthening Armenian-Uruguayan relations based on mutual respect and trust. David Karapetyan expressed gratitude to the Uruguayan authorities for creating conditions conducive to the preservation of Armenian identity over the decades.

David Karapetyan and Rodrigo Arim signed a Memorandum on the prolongation of teaching the Armenian language at the university in 2024-2025.
