Meeting of Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan at the NATO headquarters
07 May, 2024On May 7, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan had a meeting with the Deputy Permanent Representatives' Committee (DPRC) at the NATO headquarters in Brussels.
In his remarks, the Deputy Minister noted that about thirty years ago, Armenia's accession to the "Partnership for Peace" programme of the North Atlantic Alliance was an important foundation for the development of further cooperation between Armenia and NATO.
Vahan Kostanyan noted that Armenia is ready to deepen the result-oriented cooperation with both the Alliance and its individual member states, in the direction of strengthening Armenia's defense and security capabilities, as well as building resilience. Armenia's participation in international peacekeeping missions, including the NATO-led KFOR mission in Kosovo, was also highlighted.
Deputy Minister Vahan Kostanyan briefed NATO partners on the security situation and challenges in the South Caucasus, the normalisation process of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, including the developments in the delimitation process based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration. The normalisation of relations with Turkey, a member of the Alliance, was also touched upon.
In the context of developing regional economic interconnectivity, Vahan Kostanyan also presented the "Crossroads of Peace" project developed by the Government of Armenia as well as the opportunities it provides.
Views were exchanged on international security issues of mutual interest.
