Ambassador of Armenia to the Holy See presented credentials to His Holiness Pope Francis

On May 17, the Ambassador of Armenia to the Holy See Boris Sahakyan presented credentials to His Holiness Pope Francis.

During the tête-à-tête conversation following the ceremony, Ambassador Sahakyan expressed his gratitude for the continuous appeals and messages of His Holiness aimed at establishing lasting stability in the region and preserving spiritual, historical and cultural heritage, as well as for the principled position on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

The Ambassador noted that the Armenian government intends to further develop and deepen bilateral relations based on centuries-old historical ties and similar spiritual values.

His Holiness Pope Francis stressed that Armenia, as the first Christian country, has its special place and role in Christian world and civilization, and stressed the importance of deepening relations between the two Christian countries.

Pope Francis wished the newly appointed Ambassador success in his mission.
