Discussion at the UK International Institute for Strategic Studies

On July 22, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan participated in a round-table discussion at the UK International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in London. The discussion was attended by representatives from expert circles․

In the introductory remarks, Minister Mirzoyan presented the agenda of the reforms implemented by the Government of the Republic of Armenia, achievements, foreign policy priorities and the main directions for cooperation with international partners towards their realization.

The high-level political dialogue with the United Kingdom and the prospects for the development of cooperation in line with the strategic dialogue launched in last November were touched upon. In the context of the deepening partnership with the EU, Minister Mirzoyan touched upon the decisions made by the EU Council on the same day regarding the provision of assistance to Armenia under the European Peace Facility and the launch of Visa Liberalization Dialogue, stressing that the decisions are in line with the formed valuable partnership and the European aspirations of the citizens of Armenia.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia thoroughly briefed on the current security situation in the South Caucasus and the latest developments in the direction of the normalization of relations with the neighbors. Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the vision of the Republic of Armenia on establishing stability and lasting peace in the region and the steps undertaken in that direction.

In the context of the normalization process of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan stressed the importance of signing the peace treaty in the shortest possible time frame.

Highlighting the importance of ensuring stable peace for regional economic development, the Foreign Minister of Armenia presented the "Crossroads of Peace" project proposed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the reaction of international partners.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia also answered several other questions of the attendees.
