Meeting of the Foreign Minister of Armenia with the President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus

On July 29, within the framework of the working visit to Cyprus, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Annita Demetriou, the President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus. On the Cypriot side, Vardges Mahtesyan, who represents the Armenian community in the House of Representatives of Cyprus, also attended the meeting.

The interlocutors commended the high level of political dialogue between Armenia and Cyprus, based on friendly ties between the two nations and mutual willingness to deepen cooperation in all directions. It was emphasized that the opening of resident embassies in the two capitals in the coming months, as well as periodic inter-parliamentary engagements, will give additional impetus to the bilateral agenda.

Issues of cooperation on multilateral platforms were also discussed.

The ongoing democratic reforms in Armenia, the recorded achievements and the support of the EU member states in this direction were touched upon. Foreign Minister Mirzoyan touched upon the prospects of further deepening the ambitious partnership between the Republic of Armenia and the EU and the steps taken in that direction. "Citizens of the Republic of Armenia indeed have European aspirations, and together with the EU we are working to deepen our cooperation and achieve tangible results through the effective use of existing tools." In the context of efforts aimed at regional stability, the EU monitoring mission in Armenia was also touched upon.

Ararat Mirzoyan also presented the latest developments in the normalization process of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the vision of the Armenian side in the direction of establishing stability and peace in the South Caucasus. Both sides emphasized the imperative to resolve the existing problems within the framework of international law.
