The participation of the Foreign Minister of Armenia in the the Annual Ambassadors’ Conference of Cyprus
29 July, 2024On July 29, the working visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan to Cyprus started with his participation in the Annual Ambassadors’ Conference of Cyprus. It was organised by the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus and was attended by around 50 ambassadors, as well as the leadership of the Foreign Ministry.
Minister Mirzoyan started with introductory remarks after which he answered questions of the attendees.
The Foreign Minister of Armenia thanked the Foreign Minister of Cyprus for the invitation to this meeting, which is the first of its kind for Armenia. Ararat Mirzoyan emphasised: “We enjoy the level of excellent relations with Cyprus. Today, we can state without any doubt that our cooperation in various areas has already reached the level of strategic partnership. The dynamics of cooperation and the deep understanding of each other's positions are extraordinary. Together with my dearest colleague Minister Kombos, we agreed to even boost the cooperation, and Armenia is planning to establish a resident diplomatic mission in Cyprus. I do believe that this will help us to further synchronise our joint efforts and extend the dimensions of cooperation.”
Afterwards, Minister Mirzoyan presented the priorities of the foreign policy of Armenia and the steps taken for its implementation, the democratic reforms and cooperation with international partners. Ararat Mirzoyan also pointed out the existing challenges, which are also regional in nature. The processes of normalisation of relations with the neighbouring countries including the efforts made towards the finalisation of the peace treaty with Azerbaijan and the importance of its signing were touched upon. The participants were presented with the opportunities provided through the implementation of the "Crossroads of Peace" project developed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
The ambitious agenda of the Armenia-EU partnership, the achievements reached in the recent period and the upcoming actions and prospects were thoroughly touched upon.
Views were also exchanged on issues of cooperation between Armenia and Cyprus on multilateral platforms.
