Political Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Austria

On 17 September, political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Austria were held in Vienna, led by Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, and Gregor Kössler, Political Director and Director General for Bilateral Affairs and EU Common Foreign Policy of the Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria.

During the consultations, the sides discussed a wide range of issues on the Armenia-Austria bilateral agenda and stressed the importance of intensifying the high-level political dialogue as well as deepening interparliamentary cooperation.

The sides also touched upon the advancement of bilateral trade and economic relations, cooperation in the spheres of education, science and culture, as well as development policy and humanitarian programs.

The interlocutors discussed a number of issues of the comprehensive and ambitious agenda of the Armenia-EU partnership.

Deputy Minister Hovhannisyan briefed his Austrian colleague on Armenia's vision for achieving lasting peace in the South Caucasus and presented the "Crossroads of Peace" project initiated by the Government of Armenia. The latest developments in the process of normalization of the Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, as well as delimitation and signing of the peace treaty were also discussed.
