Political Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Germany

On September 23, regular political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Germany were held, led by Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Paruyr Hovhannisyan and Konrad Arz von Straussenburg, the Political Director for the South Caucasus and Central Asia of the German Federal Foreign Office.

During the consultations, the parties touched upon the recent positive development dynamic in bilateral relations, as well as frequent mutual visits and meetings, emphasizing that these interactions have served as an impetus for deepening bilateral political dialogue and identifying opportunities to enhance economic cooperation.

The parties highlighted the importance of consistent development and deepening of relations across bilateral and multilateral formats in political, economic, educational, cultural, interparliamentary, decentralized, and other spheres.

Interparliamentary cooperation, active contacts and visits between parliamentarians were also touched upon.

Both sides underscored the significant growth in trade and economic ties between Armenia and Germany in recent years. In this context, they also touched upon the activities of the Armenian-German Intergovernmental Commission.

During the consultations, a number of issues on the Armenia-EU partnership agenda were also discussed.

The Deputy Minister briefed his counterpart on Armenia's vision for establishing lasting peace in the South Caucasus and the "Crossroads of Peace" initiative developed by the Government of Armenia. The latest developments in the normalization process of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, border delimitation and the signing of a peace treaty were also touched upon.
