Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Iran

On September 26, in New York, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan met with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Foreign Ministers of the two neighboring countries commended the high level of friendly relations between Armenia and Iran, outlined ways to fully realize the potential for further cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

In the context of establishing lasting peace in the South Caucasus, Minister Mirzoyan briefed his Iranian counterpart on the latest developments in the process of negotiations on the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Minister Mirzoyan reiterated Armenia's vision for achieving lasting peace in the region. In this context, he underscored the importance of Iran's strong stance on the unconditional respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia, expressed on the highest level.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Iran touched upon the issues of unblocking the regional economic and transport communications, within the framework of which Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized Armenia's firm stance on opening of communications in line with the principles underlined in the Government’s "Crossroads of Peace" concept.
