Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan participated in the Global Media and Information Literacy Week Conference

On October 30, in Amman, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan participated and delivered remarks at the High-Level Ministerial Segment panel discussion at the UNESCO Global Media and Information Literacy Week Conference. This year, the latter was organised by UNESCO and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

In his remarks, Vahan Kostanyan emphasised the importance of cooperation with international partners, exchange of expertise and a comprehensive approach to combating disinformation and highlighted the urgency of  addressing such challenges in our region as well.

The Deputy Foreign Minister touched upon the steps undertaken by the Government of Armenia, underlining the importance of efforts towards the implementation of the National Concept of the Struggle against Disinformation 2024-2026 and emphasising the essential role of integrating media literacy into the educational system. In this context, he underscored the importance of civil society.

Vahan Kostanyan noted that informational gaps contribute to spreading disinformation, stressing the need to address these gaps through transparent and democratic governance.
