The Permanent Representative of Armenia presented his credentials to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe

On November 20, Armen Papikyan, the newly appointed Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the Council of Europe presented his credentials to Alain Berset, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

During the tête-à-tête meeting that followed the ceremony, Ambassador Papikyan reiterated the commitment of the Government of Armenia to further enhance and deepen the cooperation agenda with the Organization. The Permanent Representative underlined the importance of the implementation of the Council of Europe-Armenia 2023–2026 Action Plan, as well as the CoE's support for democratic reforms, ensuring the rule of law, and protecting human rights.

In the context of regional security issues, Ambassador Papikyan noted that Armenia exerts continuous efforts to establish peace and stability in the South Caucasus region, as well as to strengthen the mutual trust. The Ambassador emphasized the importance of active engagement and support of international partners in that process.

The Secretary General extended his congratulations to the Permanent Representative on his appointment and wished him an efficient tenure, which will further enhance and develop the close relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Council of Europe.
