Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Lithuania

On January 30, political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Lithuania were held in Yerevan, led by Samvel Mkrtchyan, the Head of the European Department of the MFA of Armenia and Mantas Jakimavičius, the Head of the Eastern Neighborhood Policy Department of the MFA OF Lithuania.

Acknowledging the high level of political dialogue between Armenia and Lithuania, the sides discussed issues on the Armenian-Lithuanian mutually beneficial sectoral cooperation. The importance of bilateral collaboration in economic, educational, scientific and cultural fields, as well as cooperation within the framework of international organizations were  highlighted.

The interlocutors touched upon prospects for deepening the partnership between Armenia and the European Union, highlighting the continued support provided by Lithuania in this regard. Both sides emphasized the interest in expanding cooperation between Armenia and the Nordic-Baltic countries (NB8).

Samvel Mkrtchyan briefed his counterpart on the "Crossroads of Peace" project developed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia as well as on the latest developments of the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

During the consultations the interlocutors discussed a number of international and regional issues of mutual interest.
