Participation of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia in the discussion “As geopolitical contestation intensifies, what does 2025 have in store for the nature and effectiveness of multilateralism?”
19 March, 2025On March 19, within the framework of the "Raisina Dialogue 2025" conference, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia David Karapetyan participated in the discussion “As geopolitical contestation intensifies, what does 2025 have in store for the nature and effectiveness of multilateralism?”.
In his speech, Davit Karapetyan discussed the role of the United Nations, emphasizing that it should function as an effective organization capable of preventing and promptly addressing conflicts. He highlighted the need for international organizations to be equipped with the tools necessary to identify and avert threats to global peace and security. In this context, he underscored the significance of the Pact for the Future, adopted last year, as a pivotal step in revitalizing multilateralism.
Touching upon to the "Crossroads of Peace" project, the Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry emphasized Armenia's commitment to fostering long-term peace in the South Caucasus. He stressed the importance of the project, which aims to reopen all regional infrastructures under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the involved countries, while also establishing confidence-building mechanisms to reduce tensions in the region.
The Secretary General also briefed on "Yerevan Dialogue", the upcoming second international conference, which will be held in Yerevan on May 26-27, outlining the key issues to be discussed during the event.
