Official visit of the Foreign Minister of Iran to Armenia

25 March, 2025

On March 25, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Minister Ararat Mirzoyan held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who is on an official visit to Yerevan. The ministers first had a tête-à-tête meeting, followed by discussions in an enlarged format with the participation of delegations.

Following the meeting, the ministers held a joint press conference.

Within the framework of the visit, the Foreign Ministry of Armenia hosted the presentation of the Armenian translation of the book “The Power of Negotiation” of Foreign Minister of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

In his speech at the event, Minister Mirzoyan noted, “I am pleased that today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, we are hosting the presentation of the book "The Power of Negotiation: Principles and Rules of Political and Diplomatic Negotiations" by Foreign Minister of Iran, my colleague and good friend Abbas Araghchi.

Indeed, the presentation of the book in the premises of our Ministry is not a coincidence. It is yet another proof of Armenia-Iran mutual understanding, the power of negotiation, and, of course, unwavering friendship. Our two countries, living in a truly complex region, having passed through various turbulent currents of history, attach particular importance to diplomacy, considering it the most crucial tool for ensuring security and stability.

Minister Araghchi's book once again confirms that the effective formula for resolving international and regional issues is diplomacy, and I fully share this approach.

Dr. Araghchi writes in his book: "Diplomacy is not a game that you must necessarily win, but a process where you must necessarily understand the other side." I believe this is a pivotal, fundamental provision without understanding of which it is impossible to expect and seek diplomatic solutions.

This book not only describes the technical details of the negotiation process but also analyzes the psychological, political, national, and cultural layers of diplomacy. The author seems to open the door and guide the reader into the negotiations rooms, introducing them to the course of negotiations, their nuances, highlighting the importance of each word and the value of an unspoken message.

I am happy to note that the Armenian translation of the book will also allow Armenian youth and Armenian diplomats to expand their knowledge on negotiation skills and will become a working manual for all those who prefer mutual understanding and harmony over disputes.

I wish Minister Araghchi success in such new endeavors. Congratulations."

The foreword of the book was written by Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan.
