Remarks of Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on the occasion of the reception dedicated to 100th anniversary of restoration of Georgia's independence
25 May, 2018Distinguished Ambassador,
Honorable Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I cordially congratulate you on the occasion of Georgia’s National Day - 100th jubilee anniversary of the restoration of the state independence.
It is my honor to take part in this most important celebration for our neighbor and friendly country Georgia. Hundred years ago the Georgian people rightfully seized an exceptional opportunity to reestablish the independent statehood and reshape the history of the country.
The history of the Armenian-Georgian relations is rich in traditions of fraternity, civilizational commonalities and shared values. Living side by side throughout centuries our peoples have shared each other’s sorrow and joy. Today’s celebration is not an exemption. While we share the delight of our Georgian brothers, it is more than symbolic that just in a few days we have a holiday in the Armenian calendar celebrating the 100th anniversary of Armenia’s First Republic.
For centuries Armenians and Georgians have fought, shoulder to shoulder, for their right to live in freedom.
Today, being enriched with a century-long experience and re-established on the world's political map as sovereign states, the relations between our countries are dynamically developing in a variety of spheres and have elevated to a new level. The clear evidence of this is the participation of the President of the Republic of Armenia in the celebration of 100th anniversary of the Restoration of State Independence of Georgia in Tbilisi.
I am confident that through joint efforts we are able to give a new impetus to the development of bilateral relations for the sake of strengthening the brotherly ties between our two peoples.
Taking this opportunity, I once again cordially congratulate you on this festive occasion; I wish Georgia and the Georgian people welfare and prosperity, as well as many new achievements.
Long live Armenian-Georgian centuries-old friendship!
Thank you.
